The problems in the Middle East are not new. The causes continue to be rooted in outside influences and interventions that have as their primary goal self-aggrantizement. Maybe the peoples of the area will now do violently for themselves what Lawrence tried to do peacefully almost 100 years ago.

As a resident of this planet for more than four fifths of a century, I have enjoyed both successes and disappointments in a wide variety of vocations, avocations, and life experiences. This blog satisfies my desire to share some thoughts and observations--trenchant and prosaic--with those who are searching for diversions which are interesting, poignant and occasionally funny. This morning I read the following article by Chris Hedges. I was almost brought to tears by the truth of what I read. Hedges gave my perspective some clarity, unfortunately. Consider the implications of colonialism as a national policy…driven by individual and corporate greed and hubris. It is with sadness that I share it with you.
